Privacy policy

Temaly helps teachers turn a video, a photo or a text into exercises, and lets students answer them from a link. This page says what we store, why, and how to have it removed. We do not sell data, show ads or share data for advertising.
Teachers
- Account. Your name and email. If you set a password we store only a one-way hash of it. If you sign in with Google we receive your name, your email and Google's account id, nothing else: no contacts, no files, no Drive access.
- Starting without an account. Your browser keeps a random id so it can find your work again. It identifies the browser, not you.
- What you make. The texts, photos and YouTube links you add, the exercises made from them, and your edits.
- Imported videos. When you import a YouTube video we download it and its audio to make a transcript. The video and audio files are deleted after 30 days; the transcript stays with your source.
Students
- Students do not create accounts. We store the name a student types when opening the link and the answers they give, so the teacher can see the results.
- Student pages have no analytics and no session recording.
Services that process data for us
- Anthropic (Claude) writes the draft exercises. It receives the text, transcript or photo you asked it to use.
- Groq turns a video's speech into a transcript. It receives the audio.
- Cloudflare runs our DNS, and its network is used to fetch YouTube videos.
- Google, only if you choose "Continue with Google", to confirm who you are.
Everything else, including the database and the analytics, runs on a server we operate ourselves.
Analytics and error reports
- We count visits with Umami, which we host ourselves: pages viewed, where a visit came from, device type and browser. It sets no advertising cookies.
- On teacher pages we record sessions (clicks, scrolling, page changes) and build heatmaps to see where the product is confusing. What you type is masked and never recorded.
- When something breaks we store the error, the page and, if you are signed in, your account id, so we can fix it and help you.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. A second, short-lived one exists for the few minutes of a Google sign-in. Neither is used for tracking or advertising.
How long we keep it
Your account and your work stay until you ask us to delete them. Imported video and audio files are deleted after 30 days.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything in it, including your students' answers. Write to dumitrucolodeev@gmail.com and we will do it within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear here with a new date.
